HOTLY tipped Salford band The Ting Tings release their first limited-edition single, Great DJ, on Columbia records on March 3.

The release will be followed by a full release for the duo's live favourite, That's Not My Name, in May.

The Ting Tings were formed by Katie White and Jules De Martino from the ashes of their former project, Dear Eskimo.

"It's gone so quickly for us, the last six months, that we only had time to put together a six song set because that's all we've had time to rehearse," says Katie. "We didn't have time to go into a studio for a week and write new stuff. So since Christmas we tried a couple of weeks where we just wrote new songs, and I learned a guitar solo which I'm really excited about because I haven't been playing the guitar very long.

"I only started playing in February/March time. That's kind of how we formed as the Ting Tings - Jules was playing his drums and I was thinking, What can I do? I can't just stand here and sing', so I picked his guitar up and played two chords really badly, and two weeks later we were on stage playing. Really badly, obviously."

Now the "garage pop" duo are making it onto almost all the "tipped for 2008" lists, and That's Not My Name looks set to be a genuine breakthough hit.

"We just wrote and it just came out," says Katie. "That's Not My Name, I think it was just about the frustration we were going through at the time when we got dropped from our label and our band had split up and everybody else had gone and got proper jobs."
