The Ting Tings Sing Stateside
British electro-pop sensation the Ting Tings have officially signed to Columbia. As fantastical as it may seem, the much-lauded duo was birthed from an artist commune of sorts in a timeworn cotton mill. Carrying on the creative torch, the band has since released a series of unconventionally constructed 7-inch singles, including off-the-wall premises like a four-city tour where the band invited the audience to decorate 100 blank 7-inch sleeves at each show.
For their latest leading track, "Great DJ," the Ting Tings recycled the old singles, inverted the covers and relabeled the sleeves to their own liking. The resulting amalgam is the only legitimate harbinger of their forthcoming debut, We Started Nothing (RED/Columbia), which is slated for release May 19 digitally and June 3 physically. Furthermore, the artistically inclined duo has finally decided to premiere their infectious dance tunes stateside with a five-date, bi-coastal mini-tour.

If bright colors, unparalleled dance moves and bizarre backdrops are mandatory for your visual stimulation, then The Ting Tings' video for the track, "Great DJ", will absolutely please the senses. Jules De Martino and Katie White share vocals as they trade synchronized dance moves and frozen poses. If that weren't interesting enough, the neon gleam of the rotating turquoise and fuchsia background will ensure a serious optical explosion.
